Recipe: Lactation-Boosting Almond and Oat Cookies

These easy cookies are packed with nutritional galactagogues like flaxseed, brewer’s yeast and oats to help support breast milk production. Plus they are an excellent, nutrient dense, one-handed snack, perfect for while holding a baby!

Ingredients

  • 1½ cups rolled oats

  • 1 cup almond meal/ almond flour

  • ½ cup coconut sugar or maple syrup

  • ¼ cup ground flaxseed

  • ¼ cup brewer’s yeast

  • ½ tsp cinnamon

  • ½ tsp salt

  • ½ tsp baking soda

  • ⅓ cup coconut oil or butter, melted

  • 1 egg (or flax egg: 1 tbsp flaxseed + 3 tbsp water)

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • ½ cup dark chocolate chips or chopped dates

  • ¼ cup chopped walnuts or almonds

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 170°C. Line a baking tray with baking paper or a silicone baking sheet.

  2. In a large bowl, combine oats, almond meal, coconut sugar, flaxseed, brewer’s yeast, cinnamon, salt, and baking soda.

  3. Add melted coconut oil, egg, and vanilla. Mix until well combined. Fold in chocolate chips/ dates and nuts.

  4. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions onto the tray and flatten slightly.

  5. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown. Cool before storing.
